Sustainability

  • Solid Surface products incorporate high-grade aluminum trihydrate fillers, similar to those found in antiperspirants, and pigments selected for their non-toxic and FDA-listed properties. Corian® is non-toxic, non-allergenic and BPA free; it is free from heavy metals and carcinogenic substances, complying with EPA regulations as non-hazardous and minimizing environmental impact.

  • Solid Surface benchtops are renowned for their longevity, often outlasting other materials. Their durability means replacement is rare, significantly reducing waste over time. When updates are desired, old Solid Surface can be repurposed into new benchtops or furniture pieces or disposed of responsibly in conventional landfills.

  • Corian® is composed of 1/3 acrylic resin and 2/3 natural minerals. These minerals are composed of aluminium trihydrate derived from bauxite, an ore which aluminium is extracted. While Corian® primarily utilizes bauxite sourced from alumina extraction, it does not directly mine new bauxite for its products. Instead, Corian® responsibly reuses bauxite that has already been mined and processed in the aluminum industry. This approach reduces environmental impact by repurposing existing resources.

Selected colours from brands such as Corian® are made using 5% to 20% of pre-consumed recycled materials/ingredients, as certified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). Corian® continuously innovate their manufacturing processes to reduce energy consumption, eliminate or minimise production scraps and waste, and optimise packaging.

  • Solid scraps, regardless of size, and dust from fabrication or installation do not dissolve in water and can be disposed of in landfills safely, without risk to ecosystems or human health. Even the unique acrylic adhesive used in seaming and gluing Solid Surface can be safely discarded once it has hardened, aligning with hazardous waste regulations for responsible disposal practices.

Non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, and chemically non-reactive, Solid Surface does not decompose over time or contaminate ground or water resources, so it does not affect nearby vegetation when it is discarded in a landfill.
